Nepal is home to eight out of the fourteen highest peaks in the world with colorful religious and ethnic identities. From these breathtaking heights, rivers crash down through the foothills, fed by monsoon rains and melting snow, on their way to the Great Plains of the Ganges.
Altitude ranges from near sea level to 8,848 meters above it - the summit of Mt. Everest, the highest peak of the planet. The wild variation fosters an incredible variety of ecosystems: steamy jungles and terraced valleys, forested hills, frozen peaks and high altitude deserts.
Mt. Everest (the highest peak in the world)
Mount Everest, the highest (8848 m) peak in the world is situated in the Himalayan Range in Solukhumbu bordering Tibet, an autonomous region of China. Everest is known as Sagarmatha (Head of the Sky) in Nepali language. the Goddess Mother of snow. It is estimated that more than 600 climbers from 20 different countries have conquered the summit so far.
Pashupatinath (the world heritage site)
Pashupatinath is the holiest Hindu pilgrimage destination in Nepal. It is regarded as the most sacred temple of Lord Shiva (Pashupati), who is believed to be the God of evolution. The main temple in it has been into existence since 879 AD. It is listed as one of UNESCO Heritage Sites.
Lumbini (the birth place of lord Bhuddha)
Lumbini is the place where Lord Buddha was born in 623 BC, situated in the Tarai plains of southern Nepal. The native site is marked by a stone pillar erected by Ashoka, an Indian Emperor; in 249 BC to commemorate his pilgrimage to the sacred place, is listed as one of the World Heritage Sites. Tilaurakot, lying to the west of Lumbini, has ruins of ancient palace of King Suddhodhan where Buddha spent his early childhood as a Shakya prince Siddhartha Gautam.
Today the holy site is being developed as the supreme Buddhist pilgrimage and a symbol of world peace. The shrines and monasteries that many countries have built or are still building reflect the architectural traditions of the respective countries, and thus giving Lumbini an international feel with a message of universal friendship and brotherhood.
Janaki Mandir
Ram-Janaki Mandir is located in the holy town of Janakpur established by King Janak that reflects the Hindu culture of Nepal and India. Bivaha Panchami (Marriage ceremony) is a famous festival celebrated in remembrance of wedding ceremony of Lord Ram and Sita.
National Parks, Rafting & Trekking
